Abstract

This article examines historical texts as important sources of cultural and lexical heritage, focusing on the linguistic features of the works of Eshmurod Oxund Alaviy, particularly “Jamshidiy Tavoyifi Fathi,” “Tarixi Sayyid Muhammadxoniy,” and “Tarixchayi Muhammad Ya’qubxoja.” The study explores the lexical richness, semantic structure, historical-cultural meanings, and functional characteristics of linguistic units used in these historical works. Particular attention is given to social, political, administrative, military, diplomatic, and cultural vocabulary that reflects the historical conditions, social relations, governance practices, and worldview of the period. The research considers historical texts not only as documentary sources but also as valuable linguistic records that preserve the lexical, cultural, and conceptual heritage of earlier periods. Through descriptive, contextual, comparative, historical-linguistic, and linguocultural approaches, the study identifies the ways in which lexical units function within historical narratives and convey information about social structure, political institutions, cultural traditions, and interpersonal relations. The analysis demonstrates that Alaviy’s works represent a significant source for investigating the historical development of vocabulary, semantic change, and the interaction between language and culture. The findings contribute to historical lexicology, textual studies, linguoculturology, source studies, and the broader study of the linguistic heritage of the Uzbek language.
