Abstract

This study investigates the metaphorical representation of the concept of love in English and Uzbek languages from a cognitive linguistic perspective. Love, as an abstract and complex emotional experience, is often expressed through metaphorical models that reflect human cognition and cultural perception. The research aims to identify key metaphorical patterns, analyze their cognitive basis, and compare their usage across the two languages. The study adopts a qualitative approach, drawing on examples from literary texts and everyday expressions. The findings reveal that while many metaphorical models of love are universal, their linguistic realization is influenced by cultural and cognitive factors. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between language, thought, and culture.
