Abstract

The study addressed the legal status of women in Assyrian law, reviewed the historical framework of women's roles in Assyrian society and their social position. It also examined the rights recognized by law and their effective impact on society, particularly politically, religiously, and culturally, as well as their role within the family. Additionally, it highlighted the effects of marriage on the relationship between spouses, its impact on women's legal capacity, and pointed to women's right to divorce and conduct business. Women were able to enjoy full legal capacity without any diminution due to marriage.
